La Serena, Chile

After spending some days in Argentina, we went to visit La Serena in Chile.
We had never been in these country before.
La Serena is an important city of Chile after Santiago that is the capital of this country.

We went in Spring. The weather was fine. But the wind was a little strong for my.

We visited La Cruz del Tercer Milenio. It is a monument on high hill (93 metres) where you can see all the city. 

At night when the Cross is illuminated you can see it from the city.

We visited the Fuerte Coquimbo, Plaza de Armas and San Francisco's church.

If you want a good dinner, you will go to Tololo beach's restaurant (http://www.tololo.cl/)

If you want peace, breeze, beautiful views and good food you have to visit Punta de Choros.
When we stayed there, we couldn't go to Isla Damas because there was strong wind and the harbor was closed. You can arrive there by boat. The travel takes about one hour and you can see penguins, dolphins and sea lions.

Another place we visited was a Pisco's factory. We went to Mistral Pisco. You can taste a traditional Pisco Sour.
Pisco is a typical drink of Chile. It is made by grape.

For lunch we ate in a restaurant near the road and we tasted delicious dessert made by papaya.

At home we ate "hallullas" for breakfast an Chilean empanadas for dinner.
The hallullas are a typical Chilean bread.

One of the best zone to explore the universe is in Chile. We went to the Observatorio del Pangue.
It's a public observatory where you can see the sky with  the biggest commercial telescope.
We paid an astronomical tour and we started our travel about at 7:00 pm. When we arrived to the hill we waited until it got dark and then we could see the moon. It was amazing!!! You can see a beautiful sky plenty of stars. It was a great experience.

I think that Chile has many beautiful places to visit and I'm sure I'll come back.
