Lisbon

We went to Lisbon last month for Christmas.
We arrived to the city on Saturday 22nd at 8 am.
We had to get up early to board the flight.
In Lisbon the weather was good, but there was fog. Because of that, the pilot landed the airplane in automatic mode!!

The city is pretty. It’s an old city. Its streets are narrow, picturesque and steep.

The hotel, Tiara Park Atlantic Lisbon, was in front of the Eduardo VII Park. It’s the biggest park in Lisbon.

The city was decorated for Christmas: its squares, the shops and the streets…
On Lisbon you can move by metro, bus or tram. The most famous tram is the number 28. His trip crosses the city.

In Lisbon, the metro stations are cute.

The city was wrapped of roast chestnuts smoke.

There are many viewpoints. We were in Miradouro Santa Luzia, Miradouro Castelo S. Jorge and Miradouro Eduardo VII Park.

We visited Praça do Comércio and Arco do Triunfo. From there you can see Tajo River. At Tajo’s shore we spent a good time listening music.

The Elevador de Santa Justa connects the lower streets with the higher ones.

In Lisbon the Belem’s cake are famous, they are a Portuguese egg tart pastry. In many places is called “crema pastelera”. The dough is puff pastry, eaten hot, sprinkled with cinnamon.
The most antique pastry shop is in Belem since 1.837. Obviously, we were there and tasted her pasties.
Every day we had breakfast with the famous sweet pastis and another different cake for taste all flavors.

Another famous pastry shop is Confeitaria Nacional since 1.829 in Lisbon center.

We had breakfast there and then we went to visit the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and Torre de Belem. From there you can see the Ponte 25 de abril similar to Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the big statue of Cristo Rei similar to the statue Christ the Redeemer in Brazil.

One night we found a nice restaurant: Augusta Café (Rua Augusta nº205). I asked for beer and cod croquettes. The beer was fine, it was a dark beer and the croquettes were delicious!

One of the days early in the morning we paid for an excursion to Sintra. In that village we visited the Palacio da Pena. It was a residence of the Portuguese royal family.
Once we were back on the bus we went to Cascai, near to the Guinxo beach. That is one of the best beaches for practice surf.

Before arriving to Cascai we stopped in Cabo da Roca. It’s a cape with forms the westernmost extent of mainland Portugal and Continental Europe.
Sintra it was good but I think Cascai with its beach is more attractive.

The last day we visited the Castelo S. Jorge. It is a huge castle with 5,500 square meters approximately.

Fortunately we found a good restaurant for lunch: Chapitô (Rua Costa do Castelo nº7). The food was delicious and the views of the city were fantastic.

I recommend you to visit Lisbon.

Note: In this travel I took some Polaroid photographs with my mobile phone.
